Faster than a speeding bullet...The Mars Express "Photon" crosses the Hellas basin in under 2 hours!
If you are perplexed by this feat? Here's a few facts for you about Hellas Impact Basin on Mars....
Nearly six miles (nine kilometers) deep and 1,300 miles (2,100 kilometers) across, the basin is surrounded by a ring of material that rises 1.25 miles (about two kilometers) above the surroundings and stretches out to 2,500 miles (4,000 kilometers) from the basin center.
Hello World Indiana here ...If you read edition 1 of the Chronicle(you can read it by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.) you will know that the Mars Constuction company was awarded the contract for the Hellas Basin to Victoria crater railway link. Well its built and operational.The First train tested the track on 19 June "Earth date" not sure what Sol date it is on Mars as we have no real fixed start. The Chronicle will be campaigning for a real Mars calender soon. Now the above image taken from the Hellas basin northern wall shows the Mars Express in test mode...The train achieved a top speed of 1356 kilometers an hour crossing central Hellas. The Train based on the "Shinkansen" japanese bullet train has the same engine as if it were on Earth...On Mars its weights just over 3 times less and It passes you like a jet fighter...Real scary, well it scared Optica, BOOM! The Mars express "Photon" fastest train in the Solar System.

Railway route Hellas to Victoria: Terra Meridani
Starting from Hellas North in Hellas Planitia work on the Hellas to Victoria railway was begun on 7 june "Earthdate" Construction droids layed the whole line to Victoria crater in under 2 weeks.
Wagons Ho!...Your intrepid reporter, reporting from one of the control droids of the Mars construction company.
Laying approx; 6000 kilometeres of track , working in 3 teams, 2000 construction droids crossed the martian landscape like a forest fire. Laying approx; 165 kilometeres of track a day, per team. The Hellas tunnel was lasered by "Mars Light and Power" droids. 232 kilometers of tunnel with a 10 metre radius was vaporiesed in 8 days, useing molecular disassociation techniques..Due to the minus temperatures on Mars the railway line if made of steel may become brittle and break. So a special line was manufactured by MME (Mars Moltech Engineering) made from a complex form of ultra hard polyaniline, which acts as a superconductor and carrys the power for the train as well. Moltech also builds the droids which are constructed from the same material . The Mars Moltech Enginneering Corporation is a nano-assembly company in Nothern Hellas.

There are four stations on the line Hellas North, Crater city, Hellas city, and Victoria, Here are a couple of shots.

I will be featuring the interior of the new Hellas North station soon, as droids were still working in there when the images were taken.
Victoria Crater station is "desolationville" it sits there in a sea of grey sand "As idle as painted ship upon a painted ocean"
to quote Coldrige.
The station droids sweep up every 2 hours.There are 2000 construction droids parked up behind the station
waiting for more line which will be arriving as soon as the Moltech corporation finish the flat bed rolling stock.

Mars advertising park...Hellas industrial Zone
Well as promised I have some images of the new enterpise park in Northern Hellas The advertising complex is still under construction. As you can see I had to put my coat on as the temperature is dropping at the moment.. The shot of Mars light & power in the industrial zone was a bit tricky because of the wind which blows down the crater wall in the day. I had to hang on to a rock, its a "looooooooong" drop to the crater floor. If anyone wonders why I am in the shots it for the scale of the image.
